Rongali Bihu is the most important and vibrant of all festivals celebrated by the people of Assam and the Assamese people do it with splendor. Bihu is celebrated by all communities of Assam, irrespective of religion, caste or creed.
Rongali Bihu signifies the arrival of spring which is also the first day of the Assamese calendar . 
There are 3 Bihus, which are celebrated during each year, all corresponding to seasons: Winter (Magh Bihu), Spring (Bohaag Bihu), and Autumn (Kati Bihu). Bohaag bihu, celebrated in mid-April,
heralds the oncoming of spring, and there is
always romance in the air.
