My dear family members of Assam Association of Singapore,
Today I am addressing you all with a mixed feeling. We the people of Assam really wait for the whole year to our most enjoyable and colourful Rongali Bihu celebration. In our busy schedule of life there are very few occasions where we meet our “apunjon” to celebrate such function. Even though we are far from our homes, but still we decided to celebrate together this “Otikoi moromor bohagor Bihuti” in a more colourful manner. Unfortunately due to some work urgency, I have to go to India , so, I will be missing this function this time . Feel little sad about it.
Any way, Sokolooke Bihur bohut bohut morom, subho itcha aru ulog jonaloo. I wish you all a very Happy Bohag Bihu celebration. This time following the Magh Bihu celebration and Annual General Body Meeting, we had very short time to organize this Bohag Bihu function. But very pleased to see the great enthusiasm and high spirits of the members which made it possible to organize everything in a short time period and I am sure all of you will enjoy the function thoroughly.
Time passes very fast. The other day we were planning how to form an Association with those coming from the North East India to work in Singapore. Now we have completed more than a year following the formation and registration of the Association. In last Annual General Body meeting members were in high spirits to have more fun and more activities of the association. So we had to expand our subcommittees . New members voluntarily came forward to contribute their services to the Association. Mean time, unfortunately our last secretary, Mr Sanjeev saikia had to leave us as he got transferred to china . Also in view of office work pressures and other commitments, Treasurer Mr Roop Barua and joint treasurer Mr Pranab Choudhury also resigned . So we had to bring in three dynamic young persons to the Management Committee . Injection of new blood has given more dynamism to the Association’s activities. The new management committee has already met few times to plan our future activities in line with our Association’s goals and objectives. I am sure with more members joining the Association, we can have more functions and also plan to do something good to our community, to Singapore and to Assam . The Association is the platform through which we can pass our rich culture, heritage , music and language etc to the younger generation.
Enjoy the Bohag Bihu .
Once again with lots of love and best wishes to all of you
